Moment in Time: Throwback to stunning James Rodriguez Everton goal

Everton fan and broadcaster Matt Jones of The Blue Room has taken to Twitter to highlight a memorable moment from recently departed Evertonian James Rodriguez.

The Colombian playmaker departed the club this week to join Qatari club Al Rayyan for a fee being claimed to be £7.2 million, having scored 6 goals and added 9 assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.

However, Jones highlighted one of the goals in particular that fans will fondly remember when Rodriguez scored a stunning individual effort against Leicester in the league in January.

He poached on a rebounded effort that ricocheted off a Leicester player before slaloming his way through the Leicester back line to curl a fresh effort onto the post crashing past the Foxes’ goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The shot crept through two players to only add to the difficult nature of the shot, but the goal nonetheless gave the Toffees a lead on the thirty-minute mark.

A second-half goal from midfielder Youri Tielemans confined the Toffees to have to settle for a point, but that took little away from the individual brilliance from the Everton man.

The goal from the Toffees playmaker certainly highlighted the breadth of capability from Rodriguez and gave Everton fans a treasured individual effort to remember.

At that point, England forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin had extended his goalless run to six Premier League games, with Rodriguez duly stepping up to fill the void in terms of goal threat.
