Everton attacker Kevin Mirallas today cast his uncertain future into even further doubt after openly criticising manager Roberto Martinez in an interview with Belgian paper De Standaard.
The 27-year-old has been the subject of constant speculation in recent months and is currently away with the Belgium national team ahead of fixtures against France and Wales.
“Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid were interested [in January], but Everton obliged me to stay at the club. I understood because our young group performed below expectations. So I had to stay, but in the second half of the season, suddenly, I started to play less games. Promises were broken and it makes for a somewhat awkward relationship with the coach. Soon I will have a conversation with him,” said Mirallas.
“I have had a beautiful 2 and a half years with Everton. I have experienced many great moments and for that I must thank the club. So I don’t know whether I will leave, it is a decision I have to make with my family.”
It remains to be seen whether the gifted forward, who hit 11 goals in an otherwise inconsistent, injury-plagued season, will indeed remain with the Goodison Park side.
