Michael Keane suffers hairline fracture of skull

Everton defender Michael Keane has suffered a small hairline fracture of the skull during the Toffees’ dramatic 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, according to Times journalist Paul Joyce.

The England international, who scored Everton’s second goal just after the hour mark, was involved in a nasty collision with team-mate Idrissa Gueye in the closing stages of the match and was given lengthy on field treatment before being stretchered off.

The 25-year-old was taken to hospital for an assessment, which has come back as a hairline fracture of the skull, meaning the defender will be out of action for at least three to four weeks.

Marco Silva’s side surrendered a two-goal advantage on the south coast, in a fixture which saw both teams end with 10-men after red cards for Richarlison and Adam Smith.

With Phil Jagielka still serving a suspension and new signing Yerry Mina struggling with an injury, boss Silva now has his centre-back choices limited ahead of the visit of Rotherham United in the Carabao Cup.
