Everton Director of Football Marcel Brands is set to be offered a new deal at the club after months of speculation, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Nicknamed ‘The Architect’ during his time at PSV Eindhoven, the Toffees’ transfer guru has certainly provided the structure for transfer market success at Goodison Park in recent windows.
Not every deal spearheaded by the Dutchman has been a roaring success – think of injury-ridden players like Jean-Phillippe Gbamin or Fabian Delph – but he has nonetheless acquired a strong record in acquiring top talent.
Allan, James Rodriguez, Lucas Digne, Richarlison and Abdoulaye Doucoure are some notable signings to have arrived under the auspices of Brands and his vision looks set to keep taking shape at Goodison Park.
Indeed, Brands’ new contract looks set to work to that end, with several clauses reported included to safeguard a medium-to-long term future for Brands.

In turn, this could allow Everton to yield the optimised level of benefit from any future deals conducted under Brands’ tenure. Carlo Ancelotti appears to enjoy a close working relationship with the Dutchman and will likely welcome the news of a new deal imminently being signed by the Toffees chief.
Brands was previously linked with similar roles at clubs such as AS Roma as the Dutch transfer trouble-shooter entered the final year of his running deal. Thankfully, it looks like he isn’t vacating Everton any time soon.
