Romelu Lukaku today picked up the Everton Player of the Month award for February after a string of impressive performances helped the Blues reach the last 16 of the Europa League.
The £28 million pound record signing, who has struck 10 goals since the turn of the year, notched 5 goals in all competitions during the month, including a hat-trick in the 4-1 away rout of Swiss side, Young Boys.
Lukaku received the award at the Hilton Hotel on Monday afternoon, shortly after scoring his second penalty of the week to propel the Toffees to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Newcastle United.
The in-form attacker said: “It’s special to win these types of awards but there is still a lot of work to do this season.
“Everybody knows I want to win the Europa League and I also want us to finish as high as we possibly can in the league, so I will do my best to achieve my own objectives and the team’s objectives.
The Belgian, who has 17 goals to his name this campaign, will now travel to Ukrainian capital Kyiv with the rest of the Blues’ squad, hoping to secure a place in the quarter-finals of this year’s Europa League.
“Now we have to do the business in Kyiv. That will not be easy but I’m very confident in my teammates. Hopefully we can do the job there.”
