Former Everton player and manager Howard Kendall has suggested that there is nothing wrong with Martinez’s current set-up.
In his regular Liverpool Echo column, the Goodison favourite claimed that he and Manchester United legend Roy Keane are in agreement over our current situation.
Roberto Martinez, along with everyone else at the club, would have been frustrated with the way his group performed last season, however Kendall has proposed there isn’t an excess of the issue with the set-up at Goodison Park, as the club hopes to push on and advance next season.
‘Holy Trinity’ member Kendall had this to say: “I was speaking to Roy Keane before the game and though we agreed that it has been a disappointing season,” he said.
“It is just about tinkering the squad and Roy and I agreed that the club don’t need wholesale changes and bring in six or seven new players and then trying to get them all to gel before the season starts.”
I am also in agreement with Kendall here and believe that we have three promising youngsters who we should be building the team around; defender John Stones, midfielder Ross Barkley and striker Romelu Lukaku. This young trio has the potential to be one of the best spines in the Premier League with all three seeking to reach the top of the game. They are all under the age of 23 and are turning into top players- Martinez just needs to tamper with the squad slightly over the summer, adding some flare with players like Gerard Deulofeu or Yannick Bolasie.
