- Etta Eyong is linked to a move to Tottenham and Everton
- Eyong is personally inclined to a move to Barcelona
- Camerononian has been previously compared to Lamine Yamal.
Everton need a striker badly for the next season. Beto and Thierno Barry have impressed in patches, but not consistently. A forward who can perform week in, week out is a priority this summer.
One name on the list is Levante’s Karl Etta Eyong. The 22‑year‑old Cameroonian has been on Everton’s radar before. According to Mundo Deportivo, via Sport Witness, Levante are willing to sell him to Tottenham or Everton this summer.
Etta Eyong wants Barcelona, but are they still interested?
The problem for Everton is the player’s preference. Eyong wants to join Barcelona. It is unclear if the newly‑crowned La Liga champions still actively hold an interest in him.
He was one of the most promising young attackers in La Liga at the start of the season. He scored six goals in the first ten matches. But his form dipped. Since then, he just scored one goal and one assist in the league. He ended the season with seven goals and four assists in 33 La Liga games.
Levante are not expected to block any move. They will demand €25 million to let him go. Eyong has a contract until 2029. Last November, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal reportedly showed interest. At that time, Levante CEO Jose Danvila insisted his side would only analyse the star’s sale after the season. That time has now come.
What Etta Eyong would bring
Former coach Marc Brys compared him to Lamine Yamal. “Like Lamine, Etta Eyong also has that potential. He is dangerous, unpredictable, and can surprise anyone.” Those are big words. But his dip in form this season raises questions. Can he handle the pressure of a full campaign? Is he worth €25m?
Everton were interested last year as well. The interest has not gone away. But if the player only wants Barcelona, there is not much Everton can do. Unless Barcelona pulls out, this might be a non‑starter.
Still, Everton needs to explore all options. A young, unpredictable forward with pace and skill would add something different to Moyes’ attack. €25m is a lot for a player who faded after a strong start. But potential costs money.
Etta Eyong is one to watch. But Everton fans should not get their hopes up. The player’s heart seems set on Spain. Unless that changes, this deal looks unlikely.
