Former Everton wide-man Andrei Kanchelskis has expressed his complete disbelief with the Everton board for not appointing his old teammate David Unsworth on a permanent basis.
The Russian winger spent two years at Goodison Park with Unsworth, and felt the board missed a trick for not appointing him over Sam Allardyce.
Following the sacking of Ronald Koeman earlier this season, the 44-year-old Unsworth found it initially difficult to turn the club’s fortunes around, but a solid 4-0 win in his last game in charge must have left many Toffees fans thinking “what if”.

Certainly however, that’s the thought on Kanchelskis’ mind:
I don’t understand why the directors and chairman didn’t consider them (Unsworth and Duncan Ferguson) as a permanent option for the role. I don’t understand why they didn’t keep Unsworth until the end of the season and then after see what happens.
As Everton sit six points behind Burnley in the race for seventh place, a spot in the Europa League is up for grabs for the club finishing the season strongest.
