Juan Bernat has been the latest name linked to Everton as Sam Allardyce is trying to solve the left-back position at Goodison Park, according to The Liverpool Echo.
Leighton Baines has been struggling with injuries this season and recently turned 33, so it looks like the fan favourite may not be a Goodison hero for much longer.
Other left-backs at the club include Luke Garbutt who isn’t registered to play in the Premier League this season and Brendan Galloway who has spent the first half of the season at Sunderland, currently rock bottom of the Championship.
Featuring at left-back has been the summer signing, the natural right-back, Cuco Martina from Southampton. However, his performances haven’t been consistently outstanding, and Allardyce is looking to fill the gap with a natural number left-sided defender.

The Spanish left-back has been short of minutes this season for Bayern Munich, only featuring in two Bundesliga matches in November, and still being substituted off in both games.
It has been incredibly hard to fight for his place in the starting XI against David Alaba, considered by many as one of the best left-backs in Europe.
The 24-year-old is desperate for minutes while Everton are desperate for a left-back and so this could be a perfect move for Allardyce to make before the January transfer window closes in less than two weeks.
