Jagielka won’t play again this season

Phil Jagielka is out of Everton’s four remaining Premier League games after aggravating his hamstring injury in the F.A Cup Semi-Final defeat against Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.

Roberto Martinez said his skipper was not medically fit the day before the Blues faced the Red Devils but Jagielka played through the pain in order to captain his side at Wembley Stadium.

The 33-year-old produced a captain’s performance but aggravated his injury to such an extent that he is now in a race against time to play in the European Championships.

Jagielka suffered the injury in the dying embers of Everton’s 1-1 draw against Watford but did everything he could to help the Blues in their quest for silverware.

After the game, the Sale-born centre-half lamented his sides two cup semi-final defeats:

It was a make or break game and to lose was a killer.

That’s two semi-finals and two losses this season. It isn’t a good place to be.

With Jagielka out of action and Ramiro Funes Mori suspended, Matthew Pennington may partner John Stones for Everton’s next two matches.
