BBC pundit Garth Crooks has commented on the body language of Everton chiefs following the Blues’ 5-2 trouncing by newly-promoted Watford.
Going from a 2-1 Richarlison-inspired lead to a 5-2 defeat, the boos rang out around the ground following the crushing defeat in which former Everton fringe player Joshua King bagged a hattrick.
In what was an embarrassing defeat in every aspect, the reaction of Rafa Benitez and his assistant manager Duncan Ferguson was abundantly clear for all to see – something Crooks picked up on.
He told BBC Sport: “To see boss Rafa Benitez standing on the touchline motionless and assistant manager Duncan Ferguson with his head in his hands said all you needed to know about Everton’s performance.”

Everton’s honeymoon period looks dead in the water – a real shame considering the Toffees’ wonderful start to life under the former Liverpool boss.
The manager’s first month in charge of the Merseysiders saw his side securing seven points from a possible nine before a cliff-edge drop-off in form.
Now with juts a point to show from their last three games, there is a rightful fear that a rot in terms of confidence could seep into the psyche of the squad.
Ultimately, what’s done is done; Everton cannot afford to sulk with vital points up for grabs and will need to quickly analyse and learn the lessons from their thrashing at the hands of Claudio Ranieiri’s new-look Watford side.
Everton should not risk complacency against Wolves on Monday, but it could be a good chance to draw a line under recent results.
