- Gabriel Sara is expected to move from Galatasaray in the summer
- Everton, Newcastle and Aston Villa are interested in the player.
- Ex-Norwich midfielder has 8 goals and 15 assists in 87 games.
Everton have been linked with Gabriel Sara before. The Brazilian midfielder, now at Galatasaray, has a strong track record in English football from his Norwich City days.
But according to latest reports from Turkey, Aston Villa have moved ahead in the race. Turkish journalist Suleyman Rodop has confirmed that Villa have made a serious offer for the 26‑year‑old.
Aston Villa’s offer and Gabriel Sara situation
Rodop said: “Aston Villa’s offer for Gabriel Sara is quite serious. At the end of this process, Gabriel Sara is expected to most likely be heading to England.”
Gabriel Sara made the move to the Turkish Super Lig in 2024. He has since made 87 appearances for Galatasaray, scoring eight goals and providing 15 assists. His contract runs until 2029. In March, he earned his first senior cap for Brazil, a significant milestone. However, he missed out on Brazil’s squad for the summer World Cup.
Earlier reports had linked Everton, Aston Villa and Tottenham with the midfielder. Now Villa appear to be in pole position. The competition will be fierce, but Everton can offer a clear pathway to regular minutes.
Why Everton are interested?
Gabriel Sara is no stranger to English football. He had a standout spell at Norwich City, where he was named Player of the Year in 2022‑23 and included in the EFL Team of the Season in 2024. That season, he contributed 26 goals across all competitions in the Championship before leaving for Galatasaray.
His numbers in Turkey show a decent goal threat. He has shown he can handle the physical demands of English football from his time at Norwich. At just 26, he is entering his prime and can be a long term buy for Everton.
Everton need midfield reinforcements with Idrissa Gana Gueye approaching the end of his contract. Sara would bring creativity, work rate and proven Championship experience.
But Villa’s serious offer changes things. If they are willing to meet Galatasaray’s demands, Gabriel Sara could be heading to the Midlands rather than Merseyside. Everton may need to act fast or shift to other targets. The race is not over yet, but Aston Villa are now in the driving seat.
