Funes Mori comments on Barcelona rumours

Ramiro Funes Mori has spoken about life as an Everton player and the rumours surrounding his future.

The Argentinian spoke with Superclasico, a publication from his homeland, about the reported interest of Chelsea and Barcelona, how he misses River Plate and how he is enjoying life on Merseyside:

“Chelsea and Barcelona are rumours. When they arise, it’s because you’re playing well. When I was at River, there was a rumour that Everton wanted me and it happened,”

“I’m enjoying life. Being here isn’t easy, being far from family and adapting to another way of life.

I try to do my best for Everton, they gave me the confidence to play in Europe. (The Premier League) is fast and demanding, the pitches here are very quick.”

Barcelona were linked with a move for Funes Mori a couple of days ago and are believed to be keeping a close eye on a number of Everton players; John Stones, Gerard Deulofeu, Ross Barkley and Mori have all been rumoured with a switch to the Camp Nou in recent months.

The 24-year-old centre-half has impressed the Goodison faithful since his £9.5million move and has already scored three times in his 24 appearances for the Toffeemen.

His spell with the Blues hasn’t been the most fruitful so far, but the former Chelsea trialist has struck a solid partnership with Phil Jagielka since the captain returned from injury.

The pair have kept four clean sheets in their last five matches.
