Frank de Boer could bring Ajax defender Joel Veltman to Everton if appointed, reports the Liverpool Echo.
It is said, the centre-back could be de Boer’s first acquisition if the Dutchman is to be brought into replace Roberto Martinez – who lost his job this week ending his three-year stay in Merseyside.
Veltman, who was brought into the Ajax first team by de Boer, has impressed many this season being ever present in a team who conceded just 21 goals in 34 this season – the tightest defence in the league, by some way. It also puts shame to Everton’s 55 conceded goals, albeit the Toffees playing three more games.
He also helped his side to a very respectable 19 clean sheets over the Eredivisie season, a contrast to Everton’s nine so far this term. He also averaged nine defensive actions a game, with a passing accuracy of 79%.
The 24-year-old has caught the eye of many across Europe over the past few seasons, with fellow Premier League clubs also said to have been interested in the Velsen-born defender.
Veltman may be tempted to link up with former boss de Boer, if the bookies’ favourite is to be named the new Everton boss this summer.
