A disenchanting Everton performance on Sunday saw Carlo Ancelotti’s side thumped 4-0 in what can only be described as a disaster-class.
Ancelotti’s return to Stamford Bridge was overshadowed by a dominant and forceful display from Frank Lampard’s Chelsea, who had numerous first-team players missing.
Mason Mount put the hosts 1-0 up inside in 14 minutes before Pedro broke through to make it two before the break.
Chelsea had extended their lead to four within 10 minutes of the second half, with additions from Willian and Olivier Giroud sealing the victory.
A tireless performance from young Billy Gilmour ran the show for Chelsea who managed to outcompete the Toffees’ midfield in almost every aspect for the full 90 minutes.
An embarrassing display has highlighted some significant flaws in Ancelotti’s squad and will have no doubt given the boss at Goodison Park some food for thought, but here are our ‘Four Findings’ from the game.
