Former Everton fan favourite Gerard Deulofeu “craves” a return to Everton, according to a report in tonight’s Liverpool Echo.
The Barcelona starlet spent the 2013/14 campaign on loan at Goodison Park, impressing with his direct running and pacy wing play, yet has seen his progress stall in recent months after a spell at Europa League winners Sevilla turned sour.
It is believed that Deulofeu, who will return to the Catalan giants for pre-season training, views a move to Everton as the best way to gain regular first team action and reignite his faltering career.
The Spanish youngster has the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar and Pedro ahead of him in the Camp Nou pecking order, and although Barca may well want to keep the highly-rated winger as cover, Deulofeu is keen to push through a move in the coming months.
The 21-year-old has a buy-out clause around the £25 million mark, however the Echo understands that Spanish champions are willing to listen to considerably lower offers.
Deulofeu remains an immensely popular figure with Evertonians, and news of his potential return is sure to receive an overwhelmingly positive response from the blue half of Merseyside.
