Whether you’re a fan of Sam Allardyce as Everton boss or not, I feel fairly confident in claiming that the majority of Evertonians are counting down the days until the season ends, and a new one can begin.
Everton are out of European competition, have been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions and are, for obvious reasons, not in the Premier League title hunt.
Seventh place and European qualification, while not impossible, does look fairly far off, and on-field performances haven’t set a precedent that would suggest that returning to the continental stage would be a good idea, ahead of what promises to be a crucial season next campaign.
