Fans offer Gordon encouragement after he shares post about patience

Anthony Gordon has shared a message on his Twitter account, suggesting that he is remaining patient over receiving his Everton first-team return.

Gordon’s only appearance for Everton’s first-team came almost two years ago in a Europa League dead rubber against Apollon Limassol, where he came on for Kevin Mirallas for the final few minutes.

Since then, the talented attacker has seen his stock rise at Finch Farm, where he has been tipped to become the next player off the production line to feature for Marco Silva’s senior side.

Many fans, including former Toffee Michael Ball, had expected Gordon to make some sort of appearance against Watford in the Carabao Cup last night, where a 2-0 win sent Everton into the quarter-finals.

However Gordon was not in the match-day squad, and he took to Twitter following the game’s conclusion to share a message that read:

Patience is not about waiting, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.

Several Everton fans were quick to offer their own encouragement’s to the promising playmaker, expressing their thoughts on the matter on social media.

Gordon’s message is an admirable one for sure, and it must be frustrating waiting in the wings for an opportunity.

Fact of the matter is though, rarely do youth players get thrown in at the deep end when a club is in a bad run. It is too big a gamble to make, particularly when the manager’s future at the club is on the line.

Should Everton begin turning their season around in the Premier League, you’d imagine it wouldn’t be too long before we see some short cameo appearances from Gordon to bed him into the first-team, presuming Marco Silva rates him as highly as the rest of the club do.
