Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered his opinion on Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, following Euro 2020 stardom.
Despite bowing out on penalties in the final of the competition, the England international ended the tournament having recorded the highest number of clean sheets of any goalkeeper.
Pickford also saved two Italian penalties in the shootout that ultimately decided the tournament’s victor – though his heroics were not enough to prevent disappointment for England.
Although there was anything but heartbreak for Romano with his country etching itself into the history books in the most dramatic of fashion, he took the time to discuss Pickford.
Speaking about the Euro 2020 final and Pickford’s recent performances live on his official Twitch channel [via Goodison News], Romano said:
“To be honest, I feel he makes me nervous.
“However, he has a different feeling when he’s playing for national team.”

It is difficult to disagree with Romano’s succinct verdict.
Pickford has undoubtedly starred for England and looked formidable on the biggest stage in international European football following some stand-out performances oozing with leadership and panache.
The Blues shot-stopper was described as ‘faultless’ by Everton goalkeeping coach Alan Kelly during the 120 minutes he played in the final and did all he could to buoy the Three Lions to the cusp of glory.
He has cut an increasingly composed, commanding figure that takes responsibility and has been on the ascendency for club and country.
Pickford will take a well-deserved rest after the Euros, and Everton fans will be hoping his rise in form does not suffer a lapse in the new season.
