Everton can do something “really good” this season with new manager Rafael Benitez in charge, suggests former Toffees striker Marcus Bent.
After three games have been played into the new Premier League season, Everton sit 6th in the league table with seven points.
Their impressive displays against the likes of Brighton and Southampton have put them in good stead to start the campaign and fans are beginning to warm towards their new manager, and former Liverpool boss, Benitez.
The Spaniard has brought in several key players in the summer who have started the careers in Merseyside excellently, including the likes of Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend – who have already scored three goals between them.
The deadline day signing of former Newcastle and West Brom forward Salomon Rondon will also add further depth to their squad, as they look to build and improve on their disappointing 10th place finish last season.
Marcus Bent, who spent two seasons with Everton as a striker, spoke exclusively to Read Everton about what they can achieve this season: “It is about getting the right people on board and being confident, so we can go into this new stadium positively.
“I think we can go in and do something really good this season, but hopefully it will be consistent and they can go on and do some good things.”
The club will aim to push into a regular European spot over the next few years, and will be boosted by the recent news that they will move into a new 52,888 seated stadium for the 2024/25 season.
Benitez certainly has the necessary experience to help move the Toffees into a top-six position, with fans hoping that their team can rival some of the elite Premier League clubs this term.
