Dutch side PSV have announced that Everton have made an official approach for their director of football Marcel Brands, according to Sky Sports.
Previous reports had suggested that Brands, who was once thought to be a target for Chelsea, would join Everton once PSV were crowned Dutch champions.
Steve Walsh’s career at the club could well come to an end if this is to happen, just two years on from his move from Leicester City.
PSV are currently seven points ahead in the league with four games to go in the season, something that could speed up the process of the deal being completed.
Everton have had a poor season on all fronts and will be keen for Brands to come in and have a fresh start at the club in a bid to get them moving back in the right direction.
PSV’s general manager Toon Gerbrands has confirmed the approach to Fox Sports Holland.
They (Everton) have recently spoken to him, but also twice in the last year. It has not gone through twice and even now the contract is not complete at all. Everton also has to speak to PSV and that is not the case yet. They have only spoken to Marcel, and he’s informed us about this. It is not done yet.
