Carlo Ancelotti isn’t short of attacking midfielders with Gylfi Sigurdsson, Alex Iwobi and James Rodriguez at his disposal, but Everton have shown a long-held interest in Isco recently.
The 28-year-old has been short of form and playing time at Real Madrid and Mundo Deportivo claimed (via Sport Witness) that he is considering a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu when the winter transfer window opens.
There has been no offer from Everton so far, however, so they are no closer to procuring the signature of a player once considered ‘among the best midfielders’ on the planet. Whether they make a move in January after weeks of speculation remains to be seen.
Isco joined Real Madrid from Malaga in 2013 and has gone on to make 318 appearances in all competitions, scoring 51 goals and supplying 55 assists, but he is no longer commanding a starting berth.
The £18m-rated Spanish international has amassed only 357 minutes of football from a possible 1,890 across the board this season and has yet to score a single goal (Transfermarkt). Isco has managed only one assist, too, so his stock seems relatively low right now.

Like former team-mate James Rodriguez, Isco was regarded as one of the best playmakers in Europe a few years ago, but he now seems an attainable player for Everton as the January transfer window approaches.
Considering his rich CV (including four Champions Leagues and two La Liga crowns), peak age and his out-of-favour status at Real Madrid, the Toffees should pounce when the cards seem to be stacked to their advantage.
