Everton ‘working’ on permanent Andre Gomes deal

Everton Director of Football Marcel Brands has admitted he is working on signing Andre Gomes on a permanent deal from Barcelona, BBC Merseyside report.

The 25-year-old, who joined the club on a season-long loan from the Spanish giants along with defender Yerry Mina, has impressed the Toffees’ faithful since making his debut in October.

The Portuguese international has featured in Marco Silva’s last five Premier League line-ups, helping his side to 10 points from a possible 15.

Following Gomes’ consistent performances over the past five weeks, many have been calling for Everton to attempt to sign the creative midfielder on a permanent basis.

And Director of Football Brands has recently admitted the club are ‘working’ on a potential permanent transfer.

He’s adapted so well. He’s a very smart guy, a very social guy. I always liked him as a player so I’m so happy he’s at Everton and our big concern is now to keep him.

Gomes, who could well be a permanent signing next summer, looks set to be a regular in the heart of the midfield for Everton across the busy festive period, beginning with the trip to Anfield on Sunday.
