Everton have been linked with a move for Lille central defender Adama Soumaoro in recent times.
The Toffees are said to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window, and Soumaoro seems to be a man under consideration.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Everton’s director of football Steve Walsh was joined by the club’s chief scout Martyn Glover as they watched the 25-year-old in action for Lille on Wednesday.
Lille took on OGC Nice in a Ligue 1 clash but saw little from Soumaoro, as he lined up in a team lacking in confidence following a treacherous run of form. The French outfit only recently sacked their manager, Marcelo Bielsa, too.
Everton’s back-line has been stretched this season as a result of poor performances and injury worries, but it seems Sam Allardyce is already on the lookout for fresh blood to strengthen the defence in January.
