Guardiola’s never beaten Everton, by the way.
We’re going into the game off of a lesser-spotted away win where Cenk Tosun netted twice up at Stoke. Granted, all optimism was swiftly derailed after realising that our next two fixtures are City and Liverpool. We also have Idrissa Gueye and Gylfi Sigurdsson still injured so that probably means a return to the side for Morgan Schneiderlin, which will go down a treat at Goodison.
Don’t fall into any illusions however, the game will most certainly not be like last season’s performance, especially so considering that only one of the scorers still plays for Everton. City are probably the world’s best team and Everton have regressed to being a bottom half side at best, with only a few players saving us from relegation.
We all just want to get the season done with at this point, and this next week will be rough but it means it’s two more games down until Allardyce may be gone. So there’s that.
