Everton are ready to make a shock bid for Inter Milan’s Xherdan Shaqiri, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Swiss international only joined Inter Milan from Bayern Munich in January, but manager Roberto Mancini wants to offload him due to the 25-man squad limit.
Stoke City had a bid accepted for him, but now appear to have pulled out of the race. Schalke and Hoffenheim are interested in bringing Shaqiri back to the Bundesliga, but now Everton are also said to have expressed an interest, with a £12m bid supposedly imminent.
Roberto Martinez has said he is looking to bring in more creativity to his midfield, and Shaqiri certainly fits that bill. The futures of current wingers Aiden Mcgeady and Kevin Mirallas are also uncertain.
Any potential deal is still probably some way off, but should Everton be successful in their attempts to lure Shaqiri to the Premier League, it would represent something of a coup for the Toffees.
