Everton are interested in signing Napoli pair Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon in the summer, according to the print version of Corriere dello Sport, via Area Napoli.
The report primarily covers Everton’s supposed interest in Napoli wide man Hirving Lozano, although it also claims that Ancelotti could consider Callejon and Mertens in the summer, having managed the duo during his time in Naples.
Area Napoli speculates that the duo could sign two-year contracts with an option for a third, for respective figures that are consistent with their ages, both 32, and their value.
Finally, the report claims that Everton would target the Spaniard and the Belgian as they seek to climb up the Premier League table next season, with the Toffees hoping to finally crack the top six.
Ancelotti is said to have maintained a friendship with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, with it speculated that Everton and Napoli could strike up a working relationship for deals in the future too.

Despite being in the latter stages of their respective careers, both Callejon and Mertens are still proving to be extremely influential for Napoli.
Mertens has scored five and assisted three in 17 Serie A games for the Partenopei (Transfermarkt), while Callejon has been involved in seven league goals for the Naples outfit, six of which have been assists from right wing (Transfermarkt).
Marcel Brands spoke recently at Everton’s AGM (Liverpool Echo), declaring that the club need to sign a right-sided midfielder in the near future, so either of the Napoli forwards make sense as potential options, particularly considering that both will be free agents in the summer.
With Chelsea having looked to sign Mertens in January before ruling out a move late on, the Belgian could have plenty of interested suitors in the summer.
With Ancelotti’s previous relationship with the duo, hopefully that, and a hefty wage packet, could be enough to tempt either or both of the forwards, should Everton elect to shore up their interest.
