Rangers’ Finnish midfielder Glen Kamara has been tipped for ‘greater things’ amid intense interest for his services from a number of European and Premier League sides.
Jimmy Doyle, his former youth coach at Dundee, recently elucidated how promising Kamara was, and still is seen to be, in comments made to the Glasgow Times in which Kamara’s rise in Scottish football through stints at Rangers and Dundee was examined.
The Glasgow Times lays out the extent of interest in the midfielder, listing a host of clubs in exhaustive detail. It is claimed that Kamara has been linked with Anderlecht, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Dynamo Kiev, Dynamo Moscow, Juventus, Leeds United, Marseille, Sheffield United and Southampton during his time at Ibrox, as well as Everton.
The list of interested clubs spans six nations and several leagues, so competition will be fierce for Everton if they decide to make a move for the 25-year-old. The Finland midfielder has been hailed as a ‘class act’ by former Liverpool captain and current Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard.
Boyle has expressed his desire to see Kamara push on at a higher level in recent comments:
I am really pleased for him. I would love to see him kicking on again somewhere else at some point in time. I fully believe he has got the technique and the mentality. But that will be up to Glen. If he wants to then I am sure he can do it.
Rangers will definitely make money on Glen if they decide to sell him. But at this present moment in time they won’t be thinking like that. They will be keen to keep him with it being such a big year for them. They are top of the league and they will want to stay there. They won’t want anybody to go.
Every time he goes away on international duty with Finland he does really well. He is getting noticed in Europe as well now. I have heard teams are looking at him.
He even hinted that Kamara could excel in more of a box-to-box role, saying: “He can score more goals and that will come, maybe with a wee bit more self-belief that he can get into the box a wee bit more and get goals. He has definitely got the ability.”

With fierce competition likely driving up his value, it is hard to see Everton ever truly reigniting interest in a position in which they possess strong depth.
Andre Gomes, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure are just some of the players who share similar attributes, and it is consequently hard to see why existing options wouldn’t suffice.
