Everton are targeting FC Groningen’s Hans Hateboer, according to Dutch outlet ELFVOETBAL.
Ronald Koeman has been on the look out for potential signings this summer, with the club having a record-high transfer budget of over £100million.
Now, Hateboer who plies his trade in the Eredivisie is reportedly a name on the list of Koeman’s possible incomings.
The 22-year-old, a right-back who can also play centrally, is seen as a replacement of Tony Hibbert who departed the club at the end of last month. The Dutch U21 international is likely to provide more competition for first team right-back, Seamus Coleman than the 35-year-old did.
Hateboer joined FC Groningen from SC Veednam as a youth player, before being handed his first professional contract in 2013, aged 19.
Three years on, Hateboer has played 68 times in the league, whilst also representing his country at both U20 and U21 levels, where he also scored twice. Signing Hateboer may come at a decreased price, with the Dutchman’s contract running out in the summer of 2017.
Last season, Hateboer played 39 times in the Eredivise and Dutch play-off domestically, whilst also representing his side in the Europa League.
Elsewhere, Everton are still in a battle to sign Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel.
