Wayne Rooney is still on course to sign for DC United, according to Mirror Sport, who claim that Rooney will complete the move by the end of the month.
The Major League Soccer outfit, who have been involved in negotiations with both Rooney’s representatives and Everton for some time, hope to give Rooney his debut when they open their new Audi Field stadium on July 14.
The MLS transfer window doesn’t open until July 10, but the club want Rooney’s move to be agreed before then, with the player in Washington by the beginning of the month.

The boyhood Evertonian, who only re-joined the Toffees from Manchester United last summer, applied for a work visa for the United States last week in anticipation of completing a deal to DC.
While Marco Silva didn’t rule out Rooney remaining on Merseyside, Mirror Sport claim that the Blues want to move him on to free up resources to make new signings, in particular Norwich maestro James Maddison.
While some sources have claimed that Everton would waive a transfer fee to let Rooney leave for America for nothing, Mirror Sport claim the deal will cost in the region of £12.5million.
