According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton manager Ronald Koeman is set to make a move for Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk.
Koeman is ready to test Southampton’s resolve on the player, with the Saints demanding a £55m fee.
Van Dijk signed a new six-year contract with Southampton at the start of the season and appears to be in no rush to leave the club. He was made team captain following the sale of Jose Fonte to West Ham.

The 25-year-old is, however, currently recovering from an ankle injury and is expected to miss the rest of the season, meaning he could be a potential risk for any suitors.
The report claims that Southampton are looking for a £55m fee and are not willing to waver, with Chelsea and Manchester City sniffing around for his signature as the summer draws near.
Everton are also looking at Burnley defender Michael Keane as an alternative to Van Dijk if they fail to meet Southampton’s valuation or if the player decides to move elsehere.
