Everton, West Ham and Chelsea all had scouts present to watch Cagliari play Sampdoria in Serie A last weekend.
Calciomercato report that several Premier League clubs were present and one man they could have been looking at is Nicolo Barella, who is also a target for rivals Liverpool.
The Italian midfielder is valued at around €40 million by the Italian club and he is certainly one of the more in-demand players in Serie A at the moment.

Liverpool are among the favourites to sign the player should he leave Italy, but both Milan clubs have also been interested in the past.
The report does not confirm that it was Barella that the clubs were keeping an eye on, but there is a very high possibility that he could have been in their sights as interest in the player begins to mount.
Marco Silva appears keen to strengthen during the January window and it seems he is already putting plans in place.
