Everton are interested in bringing Dries Mertens to the Premier League, according to a report in the Italian media.
The Napoli attacker, who turned 30 two weeks ago, has long been linked with a move to England and Radio CRC in Italy are reporting that Everton are one of the clubs interested in signing him.
According to Radio CRC, Everton have yet to make a formal proposal for the Belgian international, but they will be quoted €50million (£43million) if they wish to pursue their interest.
Napoli don’t want to sell one of their star men, but with his contract expiring at the end of next season, the Partenopei may be forced to cash in on their prized asset now rather than lose him for free in 12 months time.
Mertens joined Napoli in 2013 from PSV Eindhoven and has scored nearly 50 Serie A goals in over 100 league games.
This season, Mertens has scored 31 goals in 43 games in all competitions, and he would represent a large statement of intent if Ronald Koeman could convince him to move to Goodison Park this summer.
