Everton outcast prepared to fight for his future at the club

Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen will fight for his future at the club this summer, according to his agent.

Speaking to Dutch news outlet AD, the Netherlands international’s agent discussed his client’s future and insisted that Klaassen is intent on remaining at Goodison Park.

Soren Lerby told the Dutch press:

Davy is not someone who gives up quickly. He wants to start pre-season with Everton.

Klaassen was recruited for a fee in the region of £25 million from Ajax last summer under the supervision of Ronald Koeman. Expectations were high following his arrival, but Klaassen has not yet lived up to the initial excitement.

Chances have been limited since Koeman’s departure, with both David Unsworth and Sam Allardyce neglecting to give Klaassen a significant run of matches in the starting line-up.

However, with a new manager set to come in at Goodison Park this summer, Klaassen is seemingly hopeful of redeeming himself, with a second chance likely to present itself.

Marco Silva has emerged as the leading candidate for the managerial post at Everton and Klaassen is evidently looking to impress in pre-season.
