Everton have opened talks with former Ajax manager Frank De Boer, according to the Daily Mail.
The Toffees have been without a manager since Thursday when Roberto Martinez was sacked after another poor campaign under his management. The Blues currently sit in 12th and should they remain in that position, it would be their worst league finish since 2004.
De Boer left Ajax on Wednesday after the club failed to win the Eredivisie title, getting pipped to the post by PSV on the last day. Since then the Dutchman’s agent, Guido Albers, expressed his client’s desire to join a club such as Everton, explaining that he would ‘love’ to join a club such as the Toffees.

Reports suggested that Ronald Koeman was Everton’s top target to succeed Martinez, although the Southampton manager quashed those rumours in his press conference on Friday. When asked questions about his future, Koeman admitted that he was happy at his club and will meet with the board to discuss his future plans.
Albers is thought to have met with Goodison officials on Friday and at this stage, the Dutchman looks the likely candidate to take over at Goodison Park.
