Offloading Jonjoe Kenny should be a priority for Everton director of football Marcel Brands during this transfer window before the 23-year-old’s value plummets.
Kenny has just 18 months left on his current deal and will be a free agent in the summer of 2022.
Indeed, Burnley have identified the Liverpudlian as a transfer target to provide extra strength at right-back for Sean Dyche’s plans. The Clarets have recently been taken over by American firm ALK Capital, who specialise in recruitment technology investments.
Consequently, whilst the purse strings will not be recklessly let go at Turf Moor, there is a belief that they may be loosened – and that could be to the Toffees’ benefit.
Kenny is clearly a peripheral figure in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. Following a loan spell at Schalke, Kenny has made just seven appearances this season totalling less than 300 minutes, mostly off the bench and in cup competitions (Transfermarkt).
By contrast, teammates Mason Holgate and Seamus Coleman are Ancelotti’s preferred options: with 15 league starts between the duo, Kenny is essentially a third-choice right-back.

At just 23 years old and with the added value insurance of a transfer window, now may be the opportune moment for both clubs to strike a deal.
According to Lancashire Live, Kenny is reportedly receptive to a move to Turf Moor in search of fresh opportunities, creating the groundwork for business to be conducted.
No deal can be considered a failure if both the buying and selling clubs feel they have taken advantage of a wonderful opportunity, and this could be such a moment.
Kenny could be the opening statement in a new era of ownership at Turf Moor and could come as a major reinforcement to Sean Dyche’s plans. Equally, Everton have little to lose by cashing in on a talent they have developed, with those funds possibly being able to be put to good use elsewhere.
