Everton have submitted an opening offer of £20m for Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, according to Calcio Mercato.
Fellow Premier League side West Ham have also placed a bid, believed to be a similar figure.
The Toffees are targeting a strike partner for Romelu Lukaku, as manager Ronald Koeman prefers to play with two strikers, but have found difficulties agreeing a deal.
Manchester City outcast Wilfried Bony has been linked with a move to Goodison Park this summer, but any deal is yet to materialise. Everton did, however, move to become the bookmakers’ favourites to sign Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli on Tuesday morning.
Since joining Napoli, Gabbiadini has struggled to cement his place in the starting line-up and is weighing up his options before the transfer window slams shut next Wednesday.
Gabbiadini has scored 20 goals in 60 appearances for Napoli but has failed to replicate the form that earned him a place in the Italy squad at Sampdoria.
