  • Joshua Zirkzee is linked with Everton.
  • The Dutch forward has just started five games this season.
  • Manchester United are open to selling Joshua Zirkzee.

Everton’s attack has been a mixed bag this season. Beto has found form with five goals in as many games, but Thierno Barry has been inconsistent, and the Toffees have struggled for goals at key moments.

With European qualification still a mathematical possibility and the need for squad depth next season, David Moyes is expected to add another forward. According to Football Insider, a familiar name has resurfaced on Everton’s radar.

The player linked with Everton is Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutch forward has struggled for game time at Manchester United, making just five starts under Ruben Amorim before Michael Carrick took charge. United are open to letting him leave. Former scout Mick Brown believes a move to Everton is a genuine option.

‘A move to Everton is a real possibility’

Brown explained why Zirkzee would suit Moyes’ system. “A move to Everton is a real possibility for Zirkzee. Whatever you might say about his time at Man United, he does put in a shift, he works hard, and you can never accuse him of not trying his best to make an impact.

“It might not be good enough for Man United, where he’s competing with the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo, but that’s not the case at Everton.

“He’s perfect for David Moyes because he works hard, he can hold the ball up and bring his teammates into play, he’s not afraid to move in behind the defence as well. It’s a move that could work out for everybody, because it would mean he gets more playing time, Everton get a new striker and Man United get some money.”

This season, Zirkzee has made 22 appearances for United, starting only five. He has played a mere 640 minutes mainly from the bench, scoring two goals from an Expected Goals (xG) of 2.47. He has one assist and has created two big chances. His work rate and hold‑up play are his strengths, even if his goal return has been modest.

Would Joshua Zirkzee be the right fit for Everton?

Everton need a striker who can compete with Beto and Barry. Joshua Zirkzee offers a different profile. He is a physical forward who links play and works defensively. At 24, he still has potential to develop. A move away from Old Trafford could rejuvenate his career, much like it did for others before him.

United are open to selling, and Everton have been linked before. If Moyes decides to strengthen his forward line, Joshua Zirkzee could be a decent option. With two Premier League games remaining, summer planning is already underway. The Dutch forward may finally get his move to Merseyside.
