Everton have made a loan offer for Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen, according to The Liverpool Echo.
The report claims that Everton have made their move to sign Vermaelen on a temporary deal until the end of the season.
Ronald Koeman has made no secret of his desire for a left-footed central defender, with Vermaelen seemingly his top target.
The Belgian international is not in Barcelona’s plans for the season and they are willing to let him leave before tomorrow’s deadline.

He spent last season on loan to Roma in Italy, where he played just nine league games for the club.
The defender has had an injury-hit career, but Koeman obviously feels he can still contribute to his squad as a back-up option.
The 31-year-old has plenty of Premier League experience, having captained Arsenal in the English top-flight during his five-year stint at The Emirates.
Barcelona are yet to reply to Everton’s offer.
