With Everton less than a fortnight away from the opening of the January transfer window, one name fails to slip away from the rumour mill – Dele Alli.
The former MK Dons midfielder has been heavily linked with a switch to Everton for some time after falling out of favour with Spurs manager Jose Mourinho as a departure looks increasingly certain in the winter.
Having seen just 341 minutes of action for the Lilywhites this season, the north London side are reportedly open to an 18-month loan spell for the midfielder, with Mourinho not considering Alli as a part of his core plans.
Spurs still view him as a worthwhile asset and believe an extended loan deal would be the most beneficial approach for all parties. Everton could face heavy competition from French champions Paris Saint-Germain, who made several attempts to bring him to the French capital in the summer transfer window.
According to French publication Le10 Sport, the Toffees have already tabled a deal to bring Alli to Merseyside, although the player is reportedly holding out for further offers and is open to moving away from English football for the first time in his career.
The 24-year-old is supposedly enamoured with the idea of a move abroad in what could be a blow for Everton, although the Toffees remain firmly in the race.

It feels as though Everton is more of a backup suitor in the race for Alli. Consequentially, any offer from PSG could blow the Toffees out of the water.
However, Alli is not likely to be their only midfield target – Isco and Sami Khedira are two names also linked with a January move to Goodison Park.
Therefore, it shouldn’t be any great shame if the Spurs midfielder snubs the Merseysiders’ interest.
