Everton have enquired about Paraguayan striker Oscar Cardozo, who currently plays for Trabzonspor in Turkey, according to Tutto Mercato.
The 32-year-old has also been linked with Norwich City, who will rival the Blues for the forward’s signature. This is not the first time that the Toffees have looked to sign the former Benfica man, David Moyes went to personally scout the 6ft 4 centre-forward in 2010 when plying his trade in Portugal.
The Paraguayan made his name during his time at the Portuguese giants, scoring 165 goals in 287 appearances between 2007 and 2014.
Cardozo then moved to Trabzonspor and scored 20 goals in all competitions, but this season has struggled to hit the ground running and has only managed six.
Everton are looking to bolster their squad numbers as they prepare to let players on the fringes of the first team leave the club.
Steven Naismith, Darron Gibson and Aiden McGeady all look set to leave the club while Kevin Mirallas is attracting interest from Monaco.
If Cardozo were to sign for the Blues he would be the second forward to join in the transfer window, Shani Tarashaj signing a four-and-a-half deal on Thursday from Grasshopper Zurich.
The Swiss under-21 international has been sent back to the club on loan for the rest of the season, and will be looking to impress manager Roberto Martinez before he returns to the club in the summer.
