Everton journalist, Joe Thomas, has shared a hint over what the Merseyside club could be planning to do in terms of their transfer activity during the upcoming January window.
During a recent online Q&A with the Liverpool Echo, Thomas was asked what the Toffees are likely to get up to in the upcoming winter window.
In response, the journalist had this to say on the matter: “I think Everton’s January plans depend on what happens in the next eight games.
“If DCL comes back well the focus may well be on an attacking wide player who can also potentially do a job in the middle if needed. And the better Everton do, the more patience they can have when looking around and the more attractive they will look to targets.”
The previous summer transfer window saw the Merseyside club show just how active they can be in terms of bringing players in but also moving players out of Goodison.
Having spent big amounts of money to sign the likes of Amadou Onana, Dwight McNeil and Neal Maupay, the Toffees also secured a free transfer for James Tarkowski, as well as sealing a loan move for Conor Coady.
This, and Thomas’ claim should have a lot of Everton supporters jumping for joy and fill them with confidence that the club can and will be active in the January market.
In our view, with Frank Lampard’s side only scoring more than one goal in a game on just one occasion in the league this season, as well as recent reports linking Salomon Rondon with a move away from the club, we feel that when January comes around, the Toffees should look to being in a clinical attacking player that can help the team find the back of the net on a regular basis.
