Everton reportedly enter race for £35m-rated striker with 30 goals this season

The rumours surrounding Everton’s transfer activity this summer have already started to flow.

Carlo Ancelotti has already made some of his requests know, with Gareth Bale reportedly a target for the Italian.

However, the Blues could be in the race for one of the hottest prospects in the Championship right now.

According to The72, Everton have joined the race to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

The news initially comes from Adam Leventhal of The Athletic, who reports that the Toffees and Leicester City are preparing bids.

An exclusive from Football League World revealed that Brentford have set the asking price for Toney at £35million.

That is a big price to pay for a striker from the Championship, but understandable when you look at his numbers.

This season, Toney currently sits on 30 goals and 10 assists from 44 games in the league – an incredible return.

The 25-year-old has taken so well in his first season in the Championship that he is already being offered a second chance in the Premier League.

Toney once plied his trade for Newcastle but chances were few and far between.

The striker looks a different player these days, and certainly has the ability to play in the top flight.

Pace, power, precision, and a real eye for goal – Toney could help to take the clubs attacking options that next step further.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future has been a question these past few weeks.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand even stated that he would be perfect for the Red Devils.

If he were to leave the club, then Toney would be a more than adequate replacement given his goals this season.
