- Zuriko Davitashvili has been linked with a move to Everton.
- The Georgian international from Saint-Etienne is valued at €15m.
- Everton will face stiff competition from several European clubs.
Everton have been linked with a few wingers already this summer. The latest name is Zuriko Davitashvili.
The 25‑year‑old Georgian plays for AS Saint‑Etienne in Ligue 2 and has shown some decent numbers. He already has 54 caps for his country as well, making him an interesting choice.
Everton were previously interested in him, but a deal couldn’t materialize. Since then, the interest has not gone away and now Everton are back in the mix to sign the Georgian.
Fifteen goals and five assists this season for Zuriko Davitashvili
Zuriko Davitashvili has had a good season in the Ligue 2. In 31 matches, he scored 15 goals and had five assists. Saint‑Etienne finished third in Ligue 2 and now face OGC Nice in a two‑leg playoff for promotion.
The promotion play-off is going to be significant for Everton as well. The result of that tie will have a big say in Davitashvili’s future. If Saint‑Etienne do not return to the top flight, it will be difficult for them to keep him at the club.
The Georgian is under contract until June 2028, with an option for an additional year. His valuation is around €15 million.
Benfica had a bid of £6.9m rejected already, so Saint‑Etienne are not letting him go cheap. Teams have to prize him away from the French club.
Competition from across Europe
Everton are not alone in this race. Benfica, Olympiacos, AS Monaco, Lille and Besiktaş are also interested. That is a lot of competition. But Everton can offer Premier League football. The charm of the Premier League and a promise of consistent minutes on the wing can be Everton’s bait in the negotiations.
Davitashvili can play on either side. He is 25, entering his prime. His goal return from midfield is impressive with 15 goals in 31 games, hence the demand and price. For an Everton team that has struggled for consistency and creativity upfront at times, he would be a good choice to invest.
The €15m price is not huge by Premier League standards. Everton have spent more on players who contributed less, but competition is so much that any discount on the price is not expected.
With Jack Grealish’s loan ending and the future uncertain, as well as Dwight McNeil being inconsistent in the later stages of the season and seemingly exiting Everton, a fresh option on the wing makes sense.
The French Ligue 2 playoff will decide a lot. If Saint‑Etienne goes up, they may try to keep him. If they stay down, he will likely move. Everton have been linked previously; it is to be seen if they can force the change this time and sign the Georgian.
