Everton are tracking Xherdan Shaqiri and Dries Mertens, according to numerous reports.
The highly-rated duo look set to leave respective clubs Inter Milan and Napoli this summer, with the Blues listed among a host of clubs interested in securing deals for the talented pair.
Shaqiri, 23, has reportedly fallen out of favour at Inter, 6 months after joining the club from Bayern Munich, and the Daily Mail suggests that Everton boss Roberto Martinez is keen to bring the exciting winger to Goodison.
Premier League rivals Stoke City have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the Swiss winger, who netted 6 goals in 31 appearances last campaign.
Belgian international Mertens almost joined Everton back in 2010, whilst at Utrecht, and has been a long-term target for the Blues.
Respected Belgian journalists Sven Claes (Het Laaste Nieuws) and HLN’s Kristof Terreur last night confirmed the club’s interest in the Diables Rouges international in a series of tweets on social media site, Twitter.
According to Claes, contact has been made with Mertens’ agent, while Terreur writes that although discussions have taken place, Mertens may not be a priority for the Goodison Park side.
Mertens, a pacy left winger, scored 10 times in 44 games for the Naples-based Serie A side, and at 28, may look to secure a big move to the Premier League.
Rivals Inter Milan have also been credited with an interest in the goalscoring wide-man.
At this stage, it is unknown whether any prospective deals would be reliant on Kevin Mirallas’ departure, yet with the Everton forward’s future shrouded in doubt, reports of interest in Shaqiri and Mertens will only serve to heighten speculation surrounding the Spurs-linked player.
