After being rebuffed in their attempts to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, Everton have now turned their attention to a different Senegalese Centre back.
Reported in the Daily Mail, the Merseyside club have identified Anderlecht’s Kara Mbodji as the alternative to his national teammate.
At the age of 26, Mbodji is about to hit what is widely considered as the peak time of a player’s career.
With a release clause of just £6.2 million, he definitely isn’t a bad option for the Blues, with murmurs of a John Stones outgoing transfer to Manchester City still at a high volume.

With a quoted £40 million bid rejected for Koulibaly, Mbodji is definitely a short term solution to Everton’s defensive issues – and at a much cheaper price.
Standing at 6’3ft, Mbodji is a strong player who also beholds great leadership qualities, something Everton constantly lack due to injuries.
His ability to play not only in the centre of defence but also the centre of midfield makes him a very smart signing, one who is more than capable of succeeding for the Toffee’s.
What do you think? Is he a good signing for Everton? Or do they need a more proven player in such a crucial season for the club? Koeman has a good history with making bargain signings but can his record continue with the Toffees?
