Everton hold talks with Allardyce

Everton have held talks with Sam Allardyce over taking over the vacant managerial position at the club.

According to The Telegraph, Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has spoken to Allardyce about the move.

The report claims that Allardyce is now the frontrunner for the job, as Everton look to stabilise the team.

They are worried about relegation and are interested in bringing Allardyce in for the short-term to avoid the drop before building for the long-term.

Ronald Koeman was sacked by Everton last month and the club currently have David Unsworth as caretaker manager.

Unsworth won his latest game as manager – a 3-2 win over Watford at Goodison on Sunday.

The Telegraph says that there are also other candidates still in contention. Marco Silva, Thomas Tuchel and Carlo Ancelotti have all been linked in recent weeks.

Allardyce has been out of a job since he left Crystal Palace at the end of last season.
