Fresh Chelsea transfer speculation could provide Everton with hope that they could land Kurt Zouma in January.
The Frenchman was a major target for the Toffees in the summer, having impressed on loan last season, but Chelsea weren’t willing to let the centre-back leave the club.
Due to a number of factors, Everton failed to sign an alternative to the 24-year old, meaning that the club will be desperate to increase their squad depth in that position in January.
Marco Silva currently has just Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate to choose from in that position.

With Fikayo Tomori’s stock rising at Stamford Bridge, Zouma is no longer guaranteed to start for Frank Lampard’s side.
With fresh reports from Le10 Sport also linking Chelsea with a big money move for highly rate Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile too, Zouma could potentially move further down the pecking order in due course.
This could potentially lead to Everton’s January interest being received more warmly by both Chelsea and Zouma.

I’m not entirely sure how Chelsea’s interest in Badiashile fits in with their current transfer embargo, because those rules state that the Blues cannot recruit in January. However, if they find a way to circumvent those rules, then I’d be pleased to see Everton go back for Zouma.
The Frenchman had a choppy start to the season, but he still has an abundance of talent and future potential that Everton could tap into. However, his recent upturn in performances may have given Chelsea second ideas, which is disappointing for Everton’s hopes.
