Everton forward set to secure loan move to Germany

Everton striker Henry Onyekuru is set for another season out on loan, this time at German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach.

Belgian journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen reports that the 20-year-old will not honour the second half of his two-year loan deal agreed with Anderlecht last summer.

This is because of an argument between Onyekuru and Anderlecht manager Hein Vahnhaezebrouck over the striker’s readiness to play.

The striker joined Everton from Belgian side Eupen last summer for a reported fee of £7m and was immediately sent out on loan to then champions Anderlecht.

Onyekuru scored nine league goals for the club before his season was ended just before Christmas as he picked up a serious knee injury against his former club.

The striker was forced to have surgery but has not played since, despite being fit for the last few weeks.

It is understood that the Nigerian international has other options on the table, but his preference is to move to the Bundesliga.

His lack of international action means he would not qualify for a work permit in England, therefore the Toffees have no choice but to send him out on loan again.
