Everton are the bookies favourites to sign Danny Welbeck this summer after the striker was released by Arsenal, but is the injury prone striker worth the risk for the Toffees?
SkyBet currently have Marco Silva’s side as the odds-on favourites to sign the England international at 4/9, while Crystal Palace are also said to be in the running to sign the striker.
But would he be worth the risk for the Toffees?

In terms of price, a move for Welbeck appears relatively risk free given how the Toffees would be able to sign the striker on a free transfer, but the obvious question would be over his fitness.
The 28-year-old suffered a broken ankle in Arsenal’s Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon in November, and was ruled out for the rest of the season.
Welbeck has now suffered a serious injury in each of the last five campaign’s, throwing even further doubt over whether a move for the striker would be worth it.
The striker has shown flashes of his ability in recent season’s, however, and if Everton can keep him fit, he would certainly be an asset to Silva.

Welbeck offers pace and versatility in the attacking department, with the forward having the ability to play as a central striker and on either wing, and the 28-year-old has earned a reputation for being a useful impact player from the bench.
The England international also has a vast amount of experience with 42 caps for his country and over 120 appearances for both Manchester United and Arsenal respectively.
There is no doubt that if Everton can keep Welbeck fit, he would be a fine piece of business on a free transfer. However, given his recent injury woes, that is a big if, and therefore the Toffees may be better served looking for an alternative striking option.
